Real estate in Britain, in which the Queen Mother lived
It is no secret that the royal family for the British is a symbol and pride of their homeland. Everything associated with the royal dynasty is very popular, whether it’s dishes with its image or housing where the aristocrats lived. Not so long ago, real estate in Britain, which belonged to the royal family, was put up for sale.
Buyers are offered to buy an apartment in the house, where once lived the mother of Elizabeth II. It is located in the county of East Sussex.
The apartment has three bedrooms and is located on the top floor of the building, which is called the “Olive House”. At the beginning of the XX century its owner was the uncle of Elizabeth II – brother of the Queen’s mother.
The apartment has three balconies from each bedroom, which offers a beautiful view of local scenery. In addition, the apartment has a cozy large living room, breakfast room and a spacious kitchen, equipped with all necessary appliances. There is a garage for two cars on the territory of the house.
An interesting story is how Queen Elizabeth, aka Elizabeth Bowes Lyon Fergus, got into this house. In 1914, when World War I began, she moved to live with her brother in East Sussex County at the age of 14, in the Olive House estate, which is located near Uckfield. The reason for the move was the fact that the family estate of the future queen became a hospital for wounded soldiers.
A year later, in 1915, Elizabeth’s brother died in France and the girl left there. After that, the house was passed from hand to hand for a long time, and only a few years ago it was restored, preserving the atmosphere of the building in 1710, and changed the layout, dividing parts of the building into comfortable apartments. It is possible to buy such royal real estate in Britain for 562 thousand Euro.
Another building with rich history is being sold in Oxford. There you can buy a house, where the great writer John Ronald Tolkien lived and created. The good-quality two-storey mansion has six bedrooms and a large yard with green areas. The 370 sq. m. facility is located in a popular suburb of Oxford. The official price of the house is 5.3 million euros.
The building was owned by the Tolkien family from 1930 to 1947. It was during this period that the writer created novels about hobbits and their travels in his study, which has now become a living room. Since then, the house belonged to different people. In 2004, it was purchased for 1.74 million euros, and now the value of real estate has increased almost 4 times.
